Getting married abroad
Just got back from a wedding abroad and me and the mrs are looking to do it next year. Haven't got bundles of money but looking for some ideas. I initially wanted a little Italian village but now thinking of a package to the Caribbean.

Thanks

If you haven't got loads of cash, don;t get married. The divorce will be very costly

I got married in Spain. What would have cost me 40k+ over here only cost me 20k in Spain. very good drinks deals to be had, my venue charged 15 euros per head per hour for the first 2 hours and then every hour after that was only 5 euros per head. My bar bill was less than 2k euros for 7 hours drinking. Another benefit is you don't have to invite every cunt you know, you only get the people there that actually want to be there.

Got married in St Lucia 3 years ago. Just me and the now wife. All inclusive - was brilliant.

When we got back, had a party with friends and family.

Worked for us and really happy we did it that way - was also cheaper than a full blown wedding over here.

I'd stick with the nice Italian village. Head for Tuscany, cheap to fly to, and some spectacular villas that can be rented reasonably. Look at towns like Montepulciano and Montalcino, they are truly beautiful places.

A lot of Brits get married in Cyprus & Paphos, where I spend a lot of my time. It's well geared up for it out there, with great weather for around 9 months of the year (too hot in July/Aug though).

I got married in Hawaii. It took a lot of planning and I gave everyone 2 years notice to get some funds together for it.

It worked out brilliantly.People should look at it as a weeks holiday with a free piss up in the middle of it.It's got to be somewhere cool though.Half my guests went on to have a further week in San Diego and Vegas to make the journey worthwhile.

60 people made the trip from England.

Bushey,
The Gilis are superb, I spent about two weeks on the busy one (trawangan I think) about a decade ago. Would love to go back.

I got married in Gibralter. Less paper work than in spain. Hotel sorted most of the things out. Would recommend it.
Hope this helps.

Re: Getting married abroad

I got married abroad (twice). The whole point being that we didn't want loads of people there either time and none of the family gave a shit, but that's the bit you need to sort out (especially her side) before you make any firm arrangements. Only do it if it isn't going to cause family problems because they couldn't afford to come.

On both occasions we had a decent 'wedding reception' when we got back, that seemed to satisfy everyone.

A friend of mine got married in the Moon Palace in Cancun.

Cost was a bit of a cunt (£2200 for me and the missus for a week all inclusive), but at the time I was a borderline alcoholic and so just made sure I was never asleep during the hours when the beer barrells were available for self use, which was 7am to 3am, as I had to justify the expense.

Lovely place though and people tell me that the food was nice!!

Quiet after 7.30pm, as the yanks and Canadians are such useless drinkers that they were all tucked up in bed.
